At Prestoncrest we understand that times of change, while they facilitate growth, can also cause strife. We’ve designed a ministry, JobLink, for people whose specific challenge is job related. The purpose of this ministry is to not only help the unemployed job seeker, but also to help those who would like to make a job change, and lastly to assist employers who are struggling to find employees with a similar value system.We are applying the Prestoncrest mission of reaching up, reaching out, and reaching in to the ministry. The primary focus will be to reach in. We will help job seekers by having bi-weekly meetings whose topics are focused on your specific challenges.Mentoring
Additionally, for those who would like specific guidance tailored around their industry or job title, we assign you a mentor who works in your field.
Resources Available
Also, we have a space in the church office specifically dedicated to those needing jobs. Not only will you have access to a computer to write your resume or email it to potential employers but the desktop contains icons to popular jobsites. If you have an interest in scheduling a time go here. If you have a computer at home you can access jobs posted on the Prestoncrest website here. Also, if you don’t use computers we have two binders updated weekly. One is in the church center and the other is in the Fellowship Hall.
In reaching in we haven’t forgotten employers who are having trouble finding employees. We encourage every member who is looking for an employee themselves or anyone whose company is hiring to fill out a short company bio. This will help you attract like-minded individuals to your workplace.
We know the Prestoncrest community has excellent networking possibility. However, we are also reaching out to churches in the area to broaden the scope of our reach. Not only will church members be invited to job-related events in our area but also to other Church of Christ events in the area.
Prayer
Lastly, Prestoncrest hasn’t forgotten the most important part of a job search, asking for God’s help. Times of change are tough to get through without looking up. At the end of each meeting we will have a special prayer for those in this challenging time.
